Patrick Doherty is an Australian based painter who studied at Julian Ashton College. His skills may not have come through academic study alone but rather from a life-long interest in all forms of art.  I guess you could say his style is – Modern Impressionism.

‘When the first surface images of Mars were shown, I was totally captured.  It really held my attention. I was fascinated by the red planet.  The iron oxide colours, the grand open spaces, it really is a special kind of desert.  The Australian outback is also another vast, arid, reddish landscape.  Like the arid lands of Mars, the Australian outback and rugged coastline also provides this huge artistic potential’.
